I picked up a used one on eBay to replace an old now broken PRO-2014 I keep at the office. Nothing fancy needed so the PRO-2018 fit the bill. It has a burned out display light but I have an LED replacement on order from China. The programming was a bit tricky. I am using ProLink with an FTDI based serial cable designed for a Yaesu CAT interface. I had made an adapter cable ago to convert the 8-pin mini-DIN to 3.5mm plug and it works fine. I was hoping memory download was possible but I see it isn’t. No matter. I’ll just edit the CSV as needed and upload it. I ended up removing the faucet handle screw and pulling off the handle - it won't stop someone, but it then requires a tool so doing this at least stops casual theft or vandalism.W6DTWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08296054359177080557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-778588138932522536.post-51478660673726450592019-12-07T17:26:40.728-08:002019-12-07T17:26:40.728-08:00Thanks W6DTW for the fast responce. Thanks W6DTW for the fast responce.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16541055066395273345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-778588138932522536.post-34779540242903555232019-12-07T16:34:43.050-08:002019-12-07T16:34:43.050-08:00That's definitely another way to go. Since they are of so low wattage just let them dangle in the houses. The strings typically contain about 60 bulbs. This way you can turn them off by unplugging them. If you have houses too far apart so that there are exposed bulbs outside the houses, just tape over the exposed bulb with white tape or get creative and use them as street lighting.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16541055066395273345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-778588138932522536.post-27265591247023827172019-10-24T06:21:05.476-07:002019-10-24T06:21:05.476-07:00Hello all my view on echolink is that it is real H...Hello all my view on echolink is that it is real Ham radio because if there is a ham radio up or down stream of the system that makes it ham radio, people with that said I have been running a Echolink node sense 1994 and built the interface myself the node is open to all hams that know and want to use it,its a public node its (k5mph-L) ans no its not Skype echolink can be used as a Rf linking system if you chose to or you can use it computer to computer the link Rf stuff take a little more of a learning curve and running Echolink in sysop mode make echolink a hole different ball game.echolink is a great way for hams to learn about linking systems and links of the hobby and such some hams are to closed minded to this part of the hobby go in to it with a open mind and you will learn a lot more,73s de K5MPH.........kb5zcshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13298936264350938479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-778588138932522536.post-33327787249062835422019-07-31T10:21:33.737-07:002019-07-31T10:21:33.737-07:00Great idea. My TapLock (as they are called in the UK) just suddenly stopped unlocking after about 2 months of use, with neither of the plastic keys working. I had to ask a friend to do it, with the strength and the right drill/torque, but it took 2/3 minutes to drill the hole in the plastic casing, he screwed a small (maybe 6mm) screw into the hole he'd just drilled, presumably to link the 2 layers of metal, added some twist pressure on the plastic, and the whole unit came off. Yay! I'm off to demand a refund on goods not fit for purpose, and find a more robust solution to locking the tap, but wanted to say Thanks for your advice! It's much more stable than the August, although its motion detection feature is prone to false alerts - the August clearly uses a passive IR method. whereas the Skybell uses a combination of PIR and vision.

One approach to an RPi or Arduino solution would be to put a 24 VAC relay in-line with the doorbell chime, then detect that relay closure in the microcontroller. This would give you a doorbell alert, and you could do an RPi camera for motion. For the control/alerting on the RPi I would run Domoticz - I'm using that for a wireless door/window security system and it works well. Domoticz has support for Pushover, and comes as a pre-built Rpi image.
W6DTWhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08296054359177080557noreply@blogger.com
